EA Wins LGBT Equality Award for Third Year in a Row

November 26, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Microsoft and GameStop also garner perfect scores.

EA has once again been awarded top marks for its LGBT equality culture.

This is the third year in a row that EA has scored a 100/100 rating in the annual Corporate Equality Index, which assesses companies on their “corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees”.

EA's score is only handed out when there's “organizational competency on LGBT issues, a public commitment to the equality for the broader community, as well as equal employee benefits”.

Apple, Ebay, Facebook, Google, GameStop, Microsoft, and Intel were other top rated firmed. Sony Computer Entertainment America entered with 85/100, while Nvidia scored 75/100.

“We are very honoured to be recognized again as a ‘Best Place to Work’,” Andre Chambers, EA’s head of diversity and inclusion, commented. “We believe that fostering an inclusive environment helps us to create great games, and represent our diverse set of players and I’m proud to work at a company that has strong employee values.”

Dragon Age Inquisition, an EA game, was recently pulled from release in India due to the inclusion of gay characters.
